We repair the Samsung Series 5 Ultra at our workshop in Bermondsey, from cracked screens and worn batteries to board faults and data recovery. The Samsung Series 5 Ultra is a 2012 laptop with a 13.3-inch screen, identified by model number NP530U3C. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Samsung Series 5 Ultra repairs and upgrades
Screen replacement
Cracked, flickering or lined 13.3-inch screens are replaced with a matching panel. Where the picture comes and goes as the lid moves, we check the display cable and hinges first.

Windows repair and reinstall
This model does not meet Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements, and Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. We can advise on the realistic options, including a lightweight Linux or ChromeOS Flex installation.
Battery replacement
Most configurations have a clip-in battery that can be swapped in seconds. We also test the charging circuit, because an old battery is not always the only fault. At this age, short runtime and sudden shutdowns usually point to a worn battery and not a board fault.

Charging port and power repair
The round charging socket wears and works loose. On most configurations it is a separate part on a short cable and is replaced without motherboard work.
SSD and storage upgrade
The Samsung Series 5 Ultra uses a 2.5-inch SATA drive. Replacing a hard drive with an SSD is the biggest speed improvement available for a machine of this age.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the Samsung Series 5 Ultra have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Samsung Series 5 Ultra, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Known issues with the Samsung Notebook and Series (legacy) range
- Parts for older Samsung laptops are no longer made new; we source tested refurbished parts where needed.
- Most of this range takes a 2.5-inch SATA drive and standard memory.
Data recovery from the Samsung Series 5 Ultra
The Samsung Series 5 Ultra has a 2.5-inch drive that we remove and image on our own equipment. If the drive is clicking or was dropped, stop powering it on: each attempt can do more damage.
Estimate the cost with our data recovery calculator, or read about recovering files after a ransomware attack.
Where the Samsung Series 5 Ultra sits in the range
Its nearest relatives in the Samsung Notebook and Series (legacy) range are the newer Samsung Notebook 9 13-inch (2017). Memory differs: SODIMM slots on the Samsung Series 5 Ultra, soldered on the Samsung Notebook 9 13-inch. Storage differs too: 2.5-inch SATA drive on the Samsung Series 5 Ultra, M.2 SSD, replaceable on the Samsung Notebook 9 13-inch. It is the earliest 13.3-inch model of the range that we list.
Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Samsung Series 5 Ultra be upgraded?
The 2.5-inch drive can be replaced with an SSD. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My Samsung Series 5 Ultra will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
How do I get my Samsung Series 5 Ultra to you?
Bring it to our workshop at Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to ask about courier collection. We confirm the price before any work starts.
How much does a Samsung Series 5 Ultra screen replacement cost?
Price confirmed before work starts. The exact figure depends on the part your machine needs, and we confirm it before any work starts.
