Laptop and Computer Upgrades
An upgrade is often the cheapest way to make an older computer useful again, but only if the machine allows it. Many thin laptops made since about 2016 have memory, storage or both soldered to the motherboard. Look up your model to see which applies to yours.
SSD upgrades
Moving from a hard drive to an SSD is the single biggest improvement for a computer that has one: it starts in seconds where it took minutes. We clone the existing drive to the new one, so Windows or macOS, your programs and your files arrive exactly as they were. If the machine already has an SSD, a larger one can be fitted the same way.

Memory upgrades
More memory helps when the computer slows down with many tabs or programs open. Laptops fall into three groups: those with slots, those with part of the memory soldered and one slot free, and those with everything soldered. We check what is fitted and what the board supports before quoting.
What cannot be upgraded
- Apple silicon Macs, and Intel MacBooks from 2016 onward: neither memory nor storage.
- Most Microsoft Surface devices: memory never, storage only on later models with a removable SSD.
- Many ultrabooks: memory soldered, storage usually replaceable.
- The processor and graphics chip in almost any laptop.
Windows 11
Windows 10 reached the end of support in October 2025. As a rule, computers from 2018 onward meet the requirements for Windows 11 and those from 2016 or earlier do not; 2017 models depend on the processor. We check yours and carry out the upgrade with your files kept.
Desktop upgrades
Desktops take SSDs, memory and usually a new graphics card. Before fitting a card we check the power supply, the space in the case and any manufacturer-specific connectors.
Is it worth it?
An SSD and memory upgrade makes sense on a sound machine that is merely slow. It does not make sense on one with a failing motherboard or a cracked chassis, and we will tell you which you have.
