If your HP Pavilion 15-ab has a broken screen, will not charge, runs hot or will not start, we can diagnose and repair it at our Bermondsey workshop. The HP Pavilion 15-ab is a 2015 laptop with a 15.6-inch screen. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Repairs we carry out on the HP Pavilion 15-ab
Screen replacement
Cracked, flickering or lined 15.6-inch screens are replaced with a matching panel. Where the picture comes and goes as the lid moves, we check the display cable and hinges first.

SSD and storage upgrade
The HP Pavilion 15-ab takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the HP Pavilion 15-ab have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Windows repair and reinstall
This model does not meet Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements, and Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. We can advise on the realistic options, including a lightweight Linux or ChromeOS Flex installation.
Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. On a 2015 machine a worn battery is the likely cause of short runtime, and we measure its capacity before recommending anything else.

Charging port and power repair
The round charging socket wears and works loose. On most configurations it is a separate part on a short cable and is replaced without motherboard work.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the HP Pavilion 15-ab, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Known issues with the Pavilion range
- HP product names such as 15-eg or 14-dv cover many sub-models, so we confirm parts against the full product number on the base.
- Hinge failure is the Pavilion repair we see most. The hinge stiffens, then pulls its mounts out of the lid or base.
- Older configurations with a mechanical hard drive are transformed by an SSD.
Data recovery from the HP Pavilion 15-ab
The SSD in the HP Pavilion 15-ab can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Where the HP Pavilion 15-ab sits in the range
Its nearest relatives in the HP Pavilion range are the older HP Pavilion 15-p (2014) and the newer HP Pavilion 15-au (2016). Storage differs too: M.2 SSD, replaceable on the HP Pavilion 15-ab, 2.5-inch SATA drive on the HP Pavilion 15-p.
Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the HP Pavilion 15-ab be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My HP Pavilion 15-ab will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Can the HP Pavilion 15-ab run Windows 11?
Not officially. It does not meet Microsoft's processor and security requirements.
How do I get my HP Pavilion 15-ab to you?
Bring it to our workshop at Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to ask about courier collection. We confirm the price before any work starts.
