This page sets out the repairs, upgrades and data recovery we carry out on the Dell Precision 7510, with notes on what tends to go wrong and what can and cannot be upgraded. The Dell Precision 7510 is a 2016 mobile workstation with a 15.6-inch screen. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

What we repair on the Dell Precision 7510
Screen replacement
A broken 15.6-inch screen is replaced with a panel of the same resolution and finish. We check the display cable while the lid is open.

SSD and storage upgrade
Most configurations of the Dell Precision 7510 have two M.2 slots, so a second SSD can be added, or the existing one cloned to a larger drive.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the Dell Precision 7510 have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Graphics repair
The graphics chip is soldered to the board. Artefacts, crashes under load and a black screen with the fans running are diagnosed to the chip, its memory or its power stage, and repaired at board level where it is economical.
Windows repair and reinstall
This model does not meet Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements, and Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. We can advise on the realistic options, including a lightweight Linux or ChromeOS Flex installation.
Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. On a 2016 machine a worn battery is the likely cause of short runtime, and we measure its capacity before recommending anything else.

Charging port and power repair
A charger that only works at a certain angle means a worn charging socket. We replace it and test the charging circuit behind it.
Overheating and fan repair
A thermal service covers fresh compound on the processor and graphics chip, new thermal pads where needed and both fans cleaned. It is the usual cure for throttling and loud fans under load.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Dell Precision 7510, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
What we see on the bench
- Graphics faults on these are board-level repairs: the professional graphics chip is soldered to the motherboard.
- Mobile workstations run hot for long periods, so dried thermal compound and dust-clogged fans are behind many of the shutdowns and slowdowns we see.
- Many configurations have two or more drives, sometimes in RAID. Tell us if yours does before any storage work, because it changes how data is recovered.
Data recovery from the Dell Precision 7510
The SSD in the Dell Precision 7510 can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Where the Dell Precision 7510 sits in the range
Its nearest relatives in the Dell Precision mobile workstation range are the older Dell Precision M4800 (2013) and the newer Dell Precision 3520 (2017). Storage differs too: M.2 SSD, two slots on most configurations on the Dell Precision 7510, 2.5-inch SATA drive on the Dell Precision M4800.
Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Dell Precision 7510 be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced, and most configurations have a second M.2 slot. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My Dell Precision 7510 will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Where do I find the model number on my mobile workstation?
The model name is on the base label or palm rest. The 7-character Service Tag on the base identifies the exact build. For this model, look for 7510.
Can the Dell Precision 7510 run Windows 11?
Not officially. It does not meet Microsoft's processor and security requirements.
