Encrypted Drive Data Recovery
We recover data from drives protected with BitLocker, FileVault, hardware encryption or VeraCrypt, provided you have the password or recovery key.
Signs you need recovery
- A BitLocker screen asking for a 48-digit recovery key
- A locked drive that has also developed a fault
- An external drive whose enclosure has failed and now shows as unformatted
- A laptop that will not start, with encryption switched on
What not to do
- Do not reset or reinstall Windows to get past a BitLocker prompt. That destroys the data.
- Do not throw away the enclosure of an external drive. It may hold the encryption chip.
How we recover it
We recover the encrypted contents of the drive first, then unlock them with your key. If the drive has a physical fault, that is repaired in the same way as on an unencrypted drive.
Worth knowing
- We cannot bypass encryption, and nor can anyone else. Without the password or recovery key, the data cannot be read.
- BitLocker recovery keys are usually saved in the Microsoft account that was used on the computer, or held by your employer's IT department.
What it costs
From £99 + VAT. The price depends on what has gone wrong far more than on how much data there is. Use the data recovery calculator for an estimate. The initial consultation is free, and the price is confirmed before recovery starts.

Questions
How much does encrypted drive recovery cost?
From £99 + VAT. The exact figure depends on the fault, and we confirm it after examining the drive, before recovery starts.
Will my files be kept private?
Yes. We open files only to check that the recovery worked, and the recovered data is returned to you on a separate drive.
How do I get it to you?
Bring it to Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to arrange courier collection. Pack a bare drive in an anti-static bag with padding on every side.
