Apple Data Recovery

Apple models we recover

The model numbers below are covered. We recover other Apple models too; if yours is not listed, call 020 7237 6805 with the number from the label.

What goes wrong with Apple drives

• From 2018, Intel Macs with the T2 chip, and every Apple silicon Mac, encrypt the built-in storage in hardware. The data can only be read with that Mac's own logic board working, so recovery means repairing the board.
• Removable Apple SSD modules from 2013 to 2017 MacBooks can be read in an adapter, whatever state the rest of the Mac is in.
• A Fusion Drive splits files between a small SSD and a hard drive. Both are needed, and replacing or erasing either one first destroys the volume.
• With FileVault on, we need the login password or the recovery key to unlock the data once it has been recovered.

What it costs

From £99 + VAT. The price depends on what has gone wrong far more than on how much data there is. Use the data recovery calculator for an estimate. The initial consultation is free, and the price is confirmed before recovery starts.

Questions

Can you recover a Apple drive that is no longer detected?

Often, yes. A drive that is not detected usually has an electronic or firmware fault, and the data behind it is intact. We confirm what is recoverable, and the price, before recovery starts.

Does the Apple warranty cover data recovery?

Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.

How do I get it to you?

Bring it to Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to arrange courier collection.
