We repair the LG Gram 15 15Z980 at our workshop in Bermondsey, from cracked screens and worn batteries to board faults and data recovery. The LG Gram 15 15Z980 is a 2018 laptop with a 15.6-inch screen. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

LG Gram 15 15Z980 repairs and upgrades
Screen replacement
A broken 15.6-inch screen is replaced with a panel of the same resolution and finish. We check the display cable while the lid is open.

Battery replacement
A new internal battery is fitted and tested through a full charge and discharge. At this age, short runtime and sudden shutdowns usually point to a worn battery and not a board fault.

Charging port and power repair
We replace worn charging sockets and repair USB-C ports and charging circuits at component level. The adapter is tested first, because it is the cheapest thing to be wrong.
SSD and storage upgrade
Most configurations of the LG Gram 15 15Z980 have two M.2 slots, so a second SSD can be added, or the existing one cloned to a larger drive.

Memory upgrade
On most configurations of the LG Gram 15 15Z980, part of the memory is soldered and there is one free slot, so it can be increased but not replaced entirely.
Windows repair and reinstall
The LG Gram 15 15Z980 meets Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements in most configurations. We upgrade from Windows 10, which reached end of support in October 2025, or reinstall Windows 11 cleanly with your files kept.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the LG Gram 15 15Z980, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Notes from the workshop
- The Gram’s very light magnesium alloy chassis flexes more than most, and the display is easily damaged by pressure on the lid.
- Most Gram models have two M.2 slots, so adding storage is simple.
Data recovery from the LG Gram 15 15Z980
The SSD in the LG Gram 15 15Z980 can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.
