We repair the Lenovo Y700-15ISK at our workshop in Bermondsey, from cracked screens and worn batteries to board faults and data recovery. The Lenovo Y700-15ISK is a 2015 gaming laptop with a 15.6-inch screen. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Repairs we carry out on the Lenovo Y700-15ISK
Screen replacement
The 15.6-inch panel is matched to the original by part number, including refresh rate and connector type, so games run as they did before.

Overheating and fan repair
A thermal service covers fresh compound on the processor and graphics chip, new thermal pads where needed and both fans cleaned. It is the usual cure for throttling and loud fans under load.
SSD and storage upgrade
The Lenovo Y700-15ISK has an M.2 slot and, on some configurations, a 2.5-inch bay. Machines that shipped with a hard drive are much faster once moved to an SSD.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the Lenovo Y700-15ISK have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Graphics repair
The graphics chip is soldered to the board. Artefacts, crashes under load and a black screen with the fans running are diagnosed to the chip, its memory or its power stage, and repaired at board level where it is economical.
Windows repair and reinstall
This model does not meet Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements, and Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. We can advise on the realistic options, including a lightweight Linux or ChromeOS Flex installation.
Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. On a 2015 machine a worn battery is the likely cause of short runtime, and we measure its capacity before recommending anything else.

Charging port and power repair
The round charging socket wears and works loose. On most configurations it is a separate part on a short cable and is replaced without motherboard work.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Lenovo Y700-15ISK, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Known issues with the Legion and LOQ range
- Hinge and lid problems were widely reported on 2020 and 2021 Legion 5 models.
- Legion machines respond well to a thermal service: fresh compound, new pads where needed, and clean fans.
- The graphics chip is soldered, so graphics faults are board-level repairs.
Data recovery from the Lenovo Y700-15ISK
The SSD in the Lenovo Y700-15ISK can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Where the Lenovo Y700-15ISK sits in the range
Its nearest relatives in the Lenovo Legion and LOQ range are the older Lenovo Y510p (2013) and the newer Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN (2017). Storage differs too: M.2 SSD, plus a 2.5-inch bay on some configurations on the Lenovo Y700-15ISK, 2.5-inch SATA drive on the Lenovo Y510p.
Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Lenovo Y700-15ISK be upgraded?
The M.2 SSD can be replaced, and some configurations also have a 2.5-inch bay. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My Lenovo Y700-15ISK will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
How much does a Lenovo Y700-15ISK screen replacement cost?
Price confirmed before work starts. The exact figure depends on the part your machine needs, and we confirm it before any work starts.
Is a 2015 Lenovo Y700-15ISK still worth repairing?
It depends on the fault. A battery, SSD or charging socket is usually worth doing. A major board repair on an older machine may cost more than the machine is worth, and if that is the case we will say so.
