iMac Pro 27-inch repairs and upgrades
Screen replacement
A cracked or dark 27-inch display is replaced with a matching panel. Where the picture is there but very dim, we test the backlight and its driver before condemning the panel.

macOS reinstall and repair
We reinstall macOS and migrate your data. Apple no longer offers the latest macOS for this Mac, so we install the newest version it supports.
SSD and storage upgrade
We replace the hard drive or Fusion Drive in the iMac Pro 27-inch with an SSD. The display has to come off to do it, and it is refitted with new adhesive.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the iMac Pro 27-inch have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
We also carry out logic board repair, overheating and fan repair, macOS reinstallation on the iMac Pro 27-inch, along with stand repair, no-picture and no-boot diagnosis, port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement and data transfer to a new PC.
Notes from the workshop
- From late 2012 the display is fixed with adhesive strips, so every internal repair starts with cutting the screen free and ends with new adhesive.
- Hard drives and Fusion Drives in these machines are now at the age where failures are common. Replacing them with an SSD is the most worthwhile upgrade.
- The 27-inch models have a memory door on the back; on 21.5-inch models reaching the memory means removing the display.
Data recovery from the iMac Pro 27-inch
Many of these iMacs use a Fusion Drive, which spreads files across a small SSD and a hard drive. Both parts are needed for recovery, so please do not erase or replace either before we have looked at it.
Estimate the cost with our data recovery calculator, or read about recovering files after a ransomware attack.
Where the iMac Pro 27-inch sits in the range
Its nearest relatives in the iMac (Intel) range are the newer iMac 27-inch 5K (2020). It is the earliest 27-inch model of the range that we list.
Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the iMac Pro 27-inch be upgraded?
The drive can be replaced with an SSD, which involves removing the display. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My iMac Pro 27-inch will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Is a 2017 iMac Pro 27-inch still worth repairing?
It depends on the fault. A battery, SSD or charging socket is usually worth doing. A major board repair on an older machine may cost more than the machine is worth, and if that is the case we will say so.
Where do I find the model number on my Mac?
The model number, an A followed by four digits, is printed in small text on the underside. Apple menu > About This Mac shows the year. For this model, look for A1862.
