This page sets out the repairs, upgrades and data recovery we carry out on the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH, with notes on what tends to go wrong and what can and cannot be upgraded. It is a mini PC from 2015. Parts are matched to the exact chassis, so the model number matters when we quote.

Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH repairs and upgrades
Power supply repair
A mini PC that shows no signs of life often has a failed external power adapter. We test with a known-good adapter before looking at the board.
Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Windows repair and reinstall
This model does not meet Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements, and Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. We can advise on the realistic options, including a lightweight Linux or ChromeOS Flex installation.
SSD and storage upgrade
The Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH has an M.2 slot and, on some configurations, a 2.5-inch bay. Machines that shipped with a hard drive are much faster once moved to an SSD.
Price confirmed before work starts
We also carry out motherboard repair, overheating and fan repair, virus removal on the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH, along with no-picture and no-boot diagnosis, port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement and data transfer to a new PC.
Notes from the workshop
- The H in the model code means the taller case with room for a 2.5-inch drive; K is the slim case without one.
- NUC mini PCs use laptop-style memory and M.2 storage, with an external power adapter.
- A NUC that appears dead often has a failed adapter, not a failed board.
Data recovery from the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH
The SSD in the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH be upgraded?
The M.2 SSD can be replaced, and some configurations also have a 2.5-inch bay. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Can the Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH run Windows 11?
Not officially. It does not meet Microsoft's processor and security requirements.
How do I get my Intel NUC 5 NUC5i7RYH to you?
Bring it to our workshop at Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to ask about courier collection. We confirm the price before any work starts.
