Laptop Screen Replacement

Laptop Repair London

A cracked, lined, flickering or dark screen is replaced with a panel that matches the original. Matching matters: two laptops with the same name can use different panels, and resolution, refresh rate, touch and connector all decide whether a new screen works properly.

What we check first

A screen that flickers or cuts out as the lid moves often has a damaged display cable or a failing hinge, and a new panel would not cure it. A very dim screen with a faint picture is usually the backlight. We test for both before ordering anything.

Kinds of screen

  • Standard panels, held by brackets or adhesive strips, are replaced on their own.
  • Touchscreens on 2-in-1 laptops are bonded to the glass and replaced as one part.
  • OLED panels are matched by part number so brightness and colour stay the same.
  • MacBooks and some thin laptops need the complete lid assembly.
  • Gaming laptops need a panel with the original refresh rate. A 60Hz panel fits many of them and is not the same thing.

Price

Price confirmed before work starts. The figure depends on the panel your model uses. Find your model for what applies to it.

Is it worth replacing a laptop screen?

Usually. The screen is one of the more affordable major parts, and the rest of the laptop is unaffected. The exception is an old or low-cost laptop where the panel costs close to the value of the machine, and we will tell you if that is the case.

How long does a screen replacement take?

It depends on whether the panel has to be ordered. We give you a time estimate along with the price.
