What goes wrong with Toshiba drives
- Toshiba laptop drives are fitted as original equipment in a very large number of laptops, so these are among the drives we see most.
- Canvio portable drives with model numbers beginning MQ01UBD or MQ04UB have the USB socket on the drive’s own circuit board, with no SATA connector.
- After a knock, the heads on 2.5-inch Toshiba drives can stick to the platter surface. Trying to start the drive again can turn a recoverable fault into surface damage.
What it costs
From £99 + VAT. The price depends on what has gone wrong far more than on how much data there is. Use the data recovery calculator for an estimate. The initial consultation is free, and the price is confirmed before recovery starts.
Questions
Can you recover a Toshiba drive that is no longer detected?
Often, yes. A drive that is not detected usually has an electronic or firmware fault, and the data behind it is intact. We confirm what is recoverable, and the price, before recovery starts.
Does the Toshiba warranty cover data recovery?
Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.
How do I get it to you?
Bring it to Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to arrange courier collection.
