What goes wrong with TerraMaster and Asustor drives
- Both use standard Linux software RAID, which makes recovery more predictable than on proprietary systems.
- Asustor units were hit by the DeadBolt ransomware in 2022. Units with snapshots, or that were switched off part-way through the attack, can often be recovered.

Can you recover a TerraMaster and Asustor drive that is no longer detected?
Often, yes. A drive that is not detected usually has an electronic or firmware fault, and the data behind it is intact. We confirm what is recoverable, and the price, before recovery starts.
Does the TerraMaster and Asustor warranty cover data recovery?
Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.
