What goes wrong with Netgear ReadyNAS drives
- Netgear has discontinued the ReadyNAS range, so a failed chassis cannot simply be replaced with a new one.
- ReadyNAS OS 6 units use Btrfs on Linux software RAID, which ordinary recovery software does not read correctly.

Does the Netgear ReadyNAS warranty cover data recovery?
Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.
