What goes wrong with LaCie drives
- Rugged drives survive drops better than most, but the Seagate 2.5-inch drive inside is the same fragile type used in other portables.
- 2big and larger LaCie units are RAID arrays. Whether yours is set to RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 5 decides how it is recovered, so bring the whole unit and do not swap the drives around.

Can you recover a LaCie drive that is no longer detected?
Often, yes. A drive that is not detected usually has an electronic or firmware fault, and the data behind it is intact. We confirm what is recoverable, and the price, before recovery starts.
Does the LaCie warranty cover data recovery?
Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.
