What goes wrong with Drobo drives
- Drobo’s maker went out of business in 2023, so there is no manufacturer support, no replacement units and no firmware fixes.
- BeyondRAID is not a standard RAID layout. The drives cannot be read by another NAS or by ordinary RAID recovery software.
- If the unit still starts, copy the data off now. If it does not, keep the drives in their original order and do not put them in another Drobo that has been reset.

Can you recover a Drobo drive that is no longer detected?
Often, yes. A drive that is not detected usually has an electronic or firmware fault, and the data behind it is intact. We confirm what is recoverable, and the price, before recovery starts.
Does the Drobo warranty cover data recovery?
Usually not. Most warranties replace the drive without recovering what was on it, and the faulty drive is not returned. Some drives are sold with a data recovery plan, so check yours. Either way, recover the data before sending a drive back.
